Description

The Round House is a house, originally a toll-house, likely dating to the late 18th century, although a reset datestone indicates 1660. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a 20th-century plain tile roof and has a circular plan. It is two storeys high. The front has a two-window range of casement windows with glazing bars, each set beneath a stop-chamfered wood lintel. A 20th-century central door and porch are present. The roof is conical with a flat top, and a lateral brick stack. A weathervane finial tops the roof. The interior retains some reset 17th and 18th-century panelling, believed to have come from Barnwell Manor House. The building was briefly used as a public house.
