Description
The statue, located approximately 30 metres northeast of Harrowden Hall, is a Grade II listed structure from the early 18th century, created by John Van Nost. It features a limestone ashlar panelled plinth supporting a lead statue depicting wrestling figures, believed to represent Samson and the Philistine, inspired by an original work by Giambologna. This statue is part of a formal layout that includes additional statues located approximately 30 metres and 60 metres southeast, as well as a statue plinth around 60 metres northeast. The setting also comprises gates, gatepiers, railings, walls, and an attached summer house, extending roughly 300 metres to the north, south, and east of Harrowden Hall. The gardens and park associated with this site are recognized in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II.
