Description
Wentworth Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed and regular coursed limestone and ironstone, with some brick dressings and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall. The main front features a five-window range of sash windows with glazing bars, all set under stone lintels and flat arches. There is a large 19th-century central bow window with an ashlar base and sash windows with glazing bars. To the left of the centre, there is a shallow stone porch that has a panelled and glazed door with a reeded wood surround. The gable parapets and kneelers are made of ashlar, and there are brick stacks at the ridge and ends. To the right, there is a two-window range that is of a different build than the main house. At the rear, there is a late 18th-century range that includes a leaded light casement in the gable end. Inside, the kitchen retains the remains of an open fireplace with a carved bressumer featuring dolphins, which is reputedly reset from Harrowden Hall.
