Description
Nos. 3 and 7 Sunnyside are two dwellings that were originally a single house built in the mid-17th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and has a thatched roof. It features a two-storey design with an attic and a five-window range of irregularly spaced casements, some of which are leaded and all of which are set under wooden lintels. The second window from the right is a staircase window with leaded casements and original glass. There is evidence of a blocked door to the right. The building has two stone gabled eaves dormers located at the center and far left, along with gable parapets; the left parapet has been rebuilt in brick. There are brick stacks at the ridge and end of the building. The rear of the structure is similar to the front and includes two 19th-century entrances and eaves dormers, as well as a 20th-century conservatory to the left.
Inside, No. 7 features an early 18th-century staircase with plain newels and a turned balustrade, along with a fielded-panelled screen on the first floor. Both dwellings have open fireplaces with bressumers, stop-chamfered ceiling beams, and the original roof structure. There is a timber-framed screen between the attics with brick infill. The building was used for a time as a workhouse.
