Description

Beaumont is a house dating from around 1828, which incorporates parts of an earlier building. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and has roofs made of Welsh and Collyweston slate. The house has a double depth plan and is two storeys high, featuring a main front that consists of a three-window range.

The central entrance is marked by a rusticated ashlar porch with ribbed and painted columns, a plain entablature, a moulded cornice, and a flat roof. The entrance has double panelled doors topped by a rectangular fanlight. The windows are unhorned sash types with glazing bars, which reduce in size on the first floor. All windows are set under gauged stone heads with ashlar dressings and decorative wooden blind boxes. The roof is hipped with wide eaves, and there are lateral ashlar stacks.

At the rear, there is a service wing that is likely older and also has a Collyweston slate roof. Attached to the main front is a terrace featuring a double flight of steps and 19th-century cast iron railings. A service access leading to the rear passes underneath the terrace. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to contain some early 19th-century fittings.
