Description
Woodford Rise is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features regular coursed limestone with Collyweston slate and pantile roofs, and has an irregular L-shaped plan. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a main front that includes a four-window range of early 20th century stone mullion windows. To the left of the centre, there is a stone porch of similar date. The gable parapets and stacks are made of ashlar and have moulded cornices at the ridge and ends. An early 20th century single-storey extension is located to the right of the main front. The rear elevations feature casement windows, some with glazing bars, set under wood lintels. Inside, there is a 17th century staircase with a turned balustrade that has been relocated from a now-demolished house at the east end of the village. The interior also includes moulded spine beams and the remains of an open fireplace in the room at the rear, along with some original roof structure still in place.
