Description

The Ice House Tower is a mid-19th century structure built for William Mackworth Dolben. It is constructed from squared coursed ironstone and features a lead roof. The tower is circular and designed in a Romanesque style, standing four storeys tall. It has two-stage gable buttresses at the first and second stages, with one- and two-light arch head openings on each level. The tower is topped with a corbelled and castellated parapet. Below, there is a large circular vault that was used for the storage of ice. An attached 20th-century house to the left is not of special architectural interest.
