Description
No. 13 Market Place is a late 17th-century house that stands two storeys tall with a steep stone slate roof. The ground floor is recessed and features a colonnade with five bays, consisting of two square end piers with half columns and four columns that support a massive wooden lintel. The first floor has six closely spaced windows, which are hung sashes set in reveals with plain wide architraves. The building also has chamfered quoins and a heavy dentilled eaves cornice, along with six large hipped dormers. The chimney stacks are located on the gables and have paired flues linked by an entablature at the top.
On the ground floor, the west end includes two projecting windows, which have many panes and curved ends, along with a doorway situated between them. The east end features an early semi-circular headed doorway with contemporary panelled doors that fit to the head, and towards the centre, there is a large triple window made up of three normal double hung sashes.
