Description

Woodford Mill is a watermill and attached house, likely dating from the mid-18th century with later 19th-century additions to the mill buildings. The millhouse was originally designed with a three-unit plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a four-window front. The right side has three 17th-century-style casement windows with glazing bars, set beneath shallow stone arches, and a 20th-century three-light stone mullion window on the left. A 20th-century stone porch and door are located to the right of the centre. A single roof dormer is present. The gables feature ashlar parapets and kneelers, along with stone stacks at the ridge. The attached mill building to the right is also of two storeys, with a four-window front. The first floor has vertically glazed casements, while the ground floor features casements with glazing bars, all set under shallow arches. Central plank doors provide access to both the ground and first floors. A segmental arch with a brick surround on the ground floor left is covered in weatherboarding and provides access to the mill wheel. The remains of a second mill wheel are attached to the right gable. The interior has not been inspected.
