Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-18th century and was remodeled around 1830 for the Evans family of Laxton Hall. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features a slate roof. The building originally had a T-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with an attic. The front has a three-window range of casements set under shallow stone arches, although some of these windows have been replaced in the mid-20th century. The central panelled door is also located under a shallow stone arch. There are three gabled dormers with casement windows, and the gable parapets are made of ashlar, with brick and stone stacks at each end. To the left, there is a later 19th-century and 20th-century extension. The rear wing resembles the main front, and while the interior has not been inspected, it may contain open fireplaces that are now blocked. Home Farmhouse is part of a model farm that includes a barn and attached farm buildings located approximately 30 metres northwest of the farmhouse, as well as farm buildings and an attached dovecote about 30 metres southwest of it, and a Dutch barn with attached cartsheds approximately 75 metres to the west.
