Description

A laundry and game larder, likely dating from the mid-18th century and 19th century, originally serving Ecton Hall estate. The building is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and lias, with a slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan.

The laundry entrance front is a single-storey range with four tall sash windows featuring glazing bars, set beneath gauged stone arches. A central 19th-century plank door is similarly headed. There is a hipped roof with a truncated brick stack at the eaves. The game larder, situated to the rear of the laundry, consists of a two-storey single-unit larder to the right, with canted corners, and a three-bay range of casements with iron bars and gauzed glass, set under wooden lintels. A central 19th-century door provides access, and a pyramid roof with a deep soffit shades the windows. Single-storey ranges extend to the left and right of the larder, each featuring 19th-century plank doors and casements. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers are visible on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
