Description
Nos. 17 and 19 High Street are almshouses endowed by Henry Medbury, who died in 1705. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone and feature slate roofs. Originally designed as single-unit plans, these buildings are single storey with an attic and have a two-window range. No. 17 has a leaded casement window, while No. 19 has a casement window with glazing bars, both positioned under wooden lintels. There are central 19th-century plank doors, also under wooden lintels. The buildings feature a pair of gabled roof dormers with casement windows, ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and a central stack made of brick and ashlar. Above the doors, there is an illegible plaque with a cornice. The interiors have not been inspected. These almshouses are included for their group value.
