Description
The lych gate, dated 1888, is located approximately 30 meters east of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and timber, topped with a fish-scale tile roof. The structure features a stone plinth that supports an open timber frame with four-centered arches and a gabled roof. On the churchyard side, there is an inscription that reads, "This lych gate was dedicated to the glory of God Ann Domini 1888." Attached to the lych gate are walls on both the left and right sides, which partially enclose the garden of Hampton Cell. These walls are likely from the 18th century, made of ironstone with ashlar copings. The lych gate and walls are included for their group value.
