Description
The statue, located approximately 30 metres southeast of Harrowden Hall, is an early 18th-century work by John Van Nost. It features a limestone ashlar panelled plinth supporting a lead statue of wrestling figures, believed to represent Hercules and Antaeus, possibly inspired by a Flemish model. This statue is part of a formal layout that includes additional statues located approximately 30 metres northeast and 60 metres southeast, as well as a statue plinth about 60 metres northeast, gates, gatepiers, railings, walls, and an attached summer house, all extending around 300 metres to the north, south, and east of Harrowden Hall. The gardens and park surrounding Harrowden Hall are also recognized in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II*.
