Description

Meadham's Farmhouse is a 16th-century jettied and timber-framed house with two storeys. The ground floor framing has been replaced or is cased in brick. The west bay jetty is underbuilt, while the east bay was rebuilt in the 19th century. There is a 17th-century wing to the south-west, which has a modern two-storey addition. The roof is covered with old tiles, and the windows are casements. The north front features a jettied section with a former doorway to a screen passage on the left, which is now blocked by a large early 17th-century stack. The west bay jetty is underbuilt on three sides. The timber-framed wing on the west side of the south front is followed by two jettied bays, and there is a lean-to addition to the 19th-century east bay, replacing the service wing.

Inside, the west bay or parlour range has dragon beams at the outer angles, along with chamfered cross and spine beams. The centre range includes a heavy chamfered fireplace beam and two chamfered spine beams. The roof consists of coupled rafters with queen strut trusses and a collar, featuring a single purlin with curved braces. There is a wattle and daub partition wall at the truss between the west bay and the centre range, with brick at the east end. The main posts and large curved braces are chamfered to the wall plates and tie beams.
