Description
The Old Smithy is a house dating from the 17th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed with a timber frame and features colourwashed plaster infill, while the west bays are colourwashed and rendered. The building consists of four bays, with the two right bays covered by a thatched roof that is half-hipped to the right, and the two left bays topped with a plain tiled roof. It has one and a half storeys, with the left bays featuring two and three-light casement windows, some of which are set under oak lintels. There are two dormers on the south side. The left gable displays straight tie beam braces and a weatherboarded upper gable. An off-centre stack is present, and the right bays include a left-hand door and two 19th-century four-pane box sashes, along with two two-light dormers. A 17th-century stack is located on the left side, with a smaller stack on the right. To the right, there is a single-storey outbuilding with a porch, and the timber framing extends into the left-hand side of the two right bays.
