Description
Chestnut Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th century, with an extension added in the 18th century. The original part of the cottage on the left is timber framed with brick infill, while the extension is constructed of brick with timber lintels and framing, featuring thatch eyebrows. The entire building is topped with a thatch roof, and there are brick stacks located at the center of the cottage and on the right gable. The cottage is one-and-a-half stories tall and consists of four bays. The left-hand bays have 19th-century three-light wooden casements, with a ledged board door situated between them. The right-hand bays feature 20th-century barred casements on the ground floor, with a two-light window on the left, a three-light window on the right, and paired 19th-century casements on the first floor. There is a brick lean-to on the right side of the cottage.
