Description
The Whitney Box and Whitney Box Cottage form a pair of cottages dating to the 17th century, with alterations made later. A stone plaque dated 1700 has been re-set into the gable. The cottages are timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill and rendered plinth, and have a gable end. The roofs are slate, with two intermediate brick chimneys. The cottages are two storeys high with three bays. There are paired barred casement windows. The central bay has a board door to the right, with a rectangular barred fanlight above; the left-hand cottage has its entry in the gable. The right-hand gable features cambered brick arches to the door and first-floor window. A lean-to brick extension is present at the rear.
