Description

THE BROADWAY 1. 967 No 77 (The Post Office) SP 9601 NW 3/41 31.7.70. II 2. C17 and earlier. Stucco, C19 ground floor windows to Post Office. 2 buildings joined with large brick chimney stack of circa 1620-30 at junction with square base, 4 shafts. Wing on left has 2 storeys, 1st floor oversailing. Wing on right has quoins, entablature at eaves level, 2 storey oriel bay to 1st and 2nd floors. Interior contained C17 chimneypiece, now removed, but retains original C17 staircase with newel posts, turned balusters, moulded handrails and close string.
