Description

Cowley Farmhouse is a late 17th-century house that has been altered over time. The house's timber frame is now covered with planking in the rear gable wall, while the rest of the exterior is brick with dentilled eaves. It has an old tile roof and a central chimney stack constructed of thin brick, featuring two rectangular shafts with pilasters on either side and an offset head. The house is arranged in a "T" shape. It has two storeys and an attic.

The south-eastern front has a gabled cross wing projecting to the left. The gable wall shows some stone quoins at the base on the right side. It has a 19th-century 3-light casement window under a cambered brick head on the first floor, a matching 20th-century casement with a flat head on the ground floor, and a 2-light casement window to the attic with a Phoenix fire insurance plaque below. A lean-to is situated in line with the chimney. The right-hand bay includes 19th-century 3-light casement windows, some of which are partially in the roof, and a half-glazed door within a wire porch on the right. A lean-to garage is located on the right. The south-western front features similar casement windows and a 6-panelled door with a rectangular barred fanlight and a flat wooden hood supported on cut brackets. Leaded casement windows are present on the rear of the building.
