Description
Twyford Mill is a house that was originally a water mill, dating from the 18th century, with alterations and partial rebuilding in the 19th century and later. The left-hand bay is constructed of rubble stone, with brick patches at the rear and right gable. The gable shows the original roof-line. The front has been rebuilt in brick with toothed eaves from the 19th century and features an old tile roof that is half-hipped to the right. The building has two storeys and an attic, with four bays. The left-hand bay contains 19th-century wooden casements with timber lintels, featuring a three-light window on the ground floor and paired windows on the first floor. The second bay includes a two-storey brick projection with a 20th-century canted bay window on the ground floor and a three-light casement with a cambered head above. The right-hand bays have skylights and 20th-century openings, with a gabled two-storey canted bay window to the right and an older four-pane sash above the door to the left. The rear of the building has brick extensions, 20th-century casements, and a cambered brick arch over the mill race.
