Description

This is a late 16th-century tithe barn, located in Addington. The barn is constructed of brick with an old tiled roof. It has continuous outshots of various materials projecting to the west, south, and partially along the east walls, all under the same roof. A central cart entrance features a segmental arch and a steep gable above. The interior has a double row of ventilating slits. The barn is five bays long. The outer trusses have braced tie beams, raking struts, and braced collars. The inner trusses feature arched braces to the collar beam, with another collar above. The barn is documented in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, Volume II, page 54.
