Description

The arches at each end of the north front of Stowe School, formerly part of Stowe House, are a pair of Doric-Baroque arches dating from around 1740, designed by the architect Leoni. They are constructed of ashlar stone and are positioned at right angles to the facade of the house. Above the arches are pediments, with large scrolls on either side that connect the arches to smaller pedimented niches in the flanking stone walls.
