Description

The Grenville Column is a rostral Doric column dating from around 1748. It was relocated to the Elysian Fields in the 1750s and is topped by a statue representing Heroic Poetry, one of the Nine Muses, possibly created by Nost. This statue originally stood among the earlier parterre designed by Bridgeman in front of the house.
