Description
This is a group of three houses, originally built as estate housing in the 1878, commissioned by Hannah de Rothschild. The buildings are constructed of red brick with tiled roofs and brick chimneys, arranged in an irregular L-shape and incorporating picturesque vernacular details. The north range has four bays, with the left-hand bay projecting. Bays one and three feature two-storey canted bay windows with half-timbering, pebbledashing, moulded bargeboards, and ball finials. These bays contain barred wooden casement windows with thick glazing bars. A boarded door is located to the left of the second bay, sheltered by a hipped porch with corner balusters. The right-hand bay has a door within an L-shaped porch, also with turned balusters and a gabled projection to the right. The western range consists of five bays, with irregular gables and similar casement windows. A single-storey projection is located in the centre bay, featuring a low wooden balustraded parapet. The buildings were intended to form a picturesque group with the neighbouring properties at numbers 9 and 11, and 13 to 19.
