Description
Stone Lodge is a lodge for Mentmore Towers, dated 1879 on a plaque on the chimney and possibly designed by George Devey. The building is constructed of ashlar with tiled roofs, featuring gables that have moulded stone copings and kneelers, giving it a picturesque appearance reminiscent of the early 17th century. It has one storey and an attic. The windows are moulded stone mullions with leaded lights.
On the northeast side, there is a shaped gable with a stone finial, a semi-octagonal bay window with a hipped stone roof to the right, and a porch on the left with a moulded four-centred arch and a cornice hood. The gable above the porch has a rectangular panel featuring the cypher 'R' in scrolls. The side facing the drive consists of three bays: the left bay is smaller and gabled with a three-light window; the centre bay is also gabled and includes a square bay window with four lights at the front, a single light to the right, and a three-light window on the first floor; the right bay has a five-light window leading to the porch and a four-light wooden dormer window with a dentil cornice. At the rear, there is a chimney with two octagonal shafts.
