Description

Cheddington Lodge is a lodge dating to circa 1870-80, designed by George Devey as an entrance feature to Mentmore Park. The lodge is constructed with a white brick dado, pebbledashed upper walls with half-timbering to the gables, and has thatched roofs with white brick chimneys having square shafts set diagonally. It is a picturesque building of a Y-plan, with one bay in each wing and a single storey. The windows are leaded casements. The central projection features a gabled front with a semi-circular bay window of six lights, flanked by chimneys with single shafts. Each side wing originally had a porch to the front; the left porch leads to a door with flanking single lights, while the arches of the right porch have been infilled, one with a paired leaded casement. The side wings are also characterised by chimneys with paired shafts.
