Description
Hartwellend Farmhouse is a house with an attached range of outbuildings, dating from the 17th century and extended and refronted in brick in the 18th century. The building features stone and timber framing on the rear wing and has a hipped tiled roof with a large central brick chimney that has bands and a projecting header brick cornice. It is two stories tall and the front has three bays of three-light leaded casements with segmental arched heads. To the right of the center, there is a modern enclosed porch with a hipped tiled roof, opposite the stack. On the left-hand side, there are two square bay windows with tiled lean-to roofs. The southeast elevation has two bays, with the right one featuring stone and timber framing and three-light casements, including old leaded glazing in the upper right window. The rear gable displays exposed timber. The attached range of outbuildings on the northwest side of the house is constructed of stone and brick with old tile roofs, is single-story, has modern windows, and includes an open-fronted range at right angles with roofs at three levels.
