Description

Sycarmore Farmhouse and Number 13 is a building that dates from the medieval period and the 17th century, with a refronting from the 18th century. It is two storeys high and constructed with a timber frame that has brick infill, including some herringbone patterns, and a tiled roof.

On the east elevation, the left bay features exposed timber framing and a higher roof. There is a modern four-light casement window on the ground floor, with an older similar window above it on the first floor. The rest of the elevation is faced with brick. There are two ledged doors, one four-light casement window between them, and two three-light casement windows on the right. The first floor has three three-light casements with leaded glazing. A massive brick chimney stack, with a diagonal shaft and moulded capping, is located at the change of the roof line opposite the left door.

The west elevation shows timber framing on rubble stone bases with brick infill, also featuring some herringbone work. There is a door on the left with a modern open gabled porch, and a modern steel window on the right. The first floor has two casement windows, a three-light on the left and a two-light on the right, both with old leaded glazing. There is a one-storey bay on the left, made of painted brick, with one three-light leaded casement window. A timber-framed bay on the left connects with Number 13.

The north gable facing the street is timber-framed with brick. Inside, there are remains of two cruck trusses in the northern part of the building. Number 13, which is attached, is a two-storey rear wing made of rubble stone and tiles, featuring two modern casement windows.
