Description

The gates and railings located adjacent to the southeast corner of Mentmore Towers date from the 18th century and are likely of French origin. They are made of wrought iron and feature central double gates that are convex in shape, flanked by concave and straight railings. The posts are also crafted from wrought iron and are adorned with scrolls, scrolled foliage, and delicate realistic flowers. The tops of the gates and railings are curved with scrolled crests. The inner posts are topped with vases of flowers, while the outer posts have asymmetrical scrolls, with one post carrying a lantern.
