Description
Nos 47 and 45A on High Street in Amersham are buildings dating from the 16th century, with an extension from the 18th century. They are constructed of grey brick with red dressings and feature a tiled roof and a brick dentil cornice. The buildings are two storeys high and have a first-floor band. The ground floor includes a canted bay window with double-hung sash windows, fluted pilasters, and an entablature with a projecting modillion cornice. There is a tripartite double-hung sash window with a flat arch on the first floor. The west return elevation has a door with a hood supported by shaped brackets and two sash windows on the first floor. No 45A is located in an older rear wing, which is accessed through a door in No 45. The interior of No 47 features exposed timber framing, indicating that the rear part of the house is a continuation of the adjoining No 49.
