Description

Buckingham Gate is a 17th-century building that has been altered over time. It features a timber frame and a tiled roof, presenting an irregular composition that is five bays wide, with the right side advancing slightly and topped with a hipped roof.

No. 35 is two storeys tall and two bays wide, with a stucco ground floor that includes a late 19th-century shop front. The first floor has two slightly off-centre sash windows, which likely have altered glazing bars. At the rear, No. 35 shares a timber-framed and brick gabled projecting wing with No. 37.

No. 37 is one and a half storeys high and one bay wide. Its ground floor is also stucco with a projecting modern shop front, while the first floor features a single small casement window. The tiled roof of No. 37 continues with that of No. 39.

No. 39 is three bays wide, with one bay being one storey, another bay two storeys, and a third bay two storeys plus an attic. The larger gable has exposed timber framing with brick infill, and the building is finished in stucco. The first bay includes a carriageway, the second bay has two casement windows on the ground floor beneath a tiled lean-to roof, and a single sash window with glazing bars above. The third bay features a broad casement window beneath a tiled lean-to roof that is continuous with that of the second bay, while the first floor has a single sash window with glazing bars and a tripartite casement with leaded lights in the attic.
