Description
Bottrells Close is an early 17th century timber frame house with four bays and two builds. The right-hand two bays are two storeys high with a central stack, while the left-hand two bays are one and a half storeys. The entire structure is encased in 18th century brickwork. At the rear, there are fragments of a staircase wing, which have been incorporated into an 18th century rear range of three bays featuring barred sashes in box frames. The northeast angle has infill from the 18th century and is rendered. The 18th century brick front has three bay windows flanking a two-storey porch, and the stack is made of old thin bricks. The house has hipped roofs covered with old tiles and features casements. There is an early 20th century range to the west that is two storeys high and has oak framed leaded casements. The timber frames are intact inside. The house was the residence of Ralph Heal around 1910 and the Sanderson family in the 1920s, and it has associations with 17th century Quakers.
