Description
Sweet Briar Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and restored in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features an exposed timber frame at the gable ends, with whitewashed brick infill on the front wall. The left bay at the front has a modern frame, while the right bay is supported by whitewashed brick pilasters. The cottage has a thatched roof with flanking external brick chimneys; the chimney on the left has a rubble stone base. It is 1½ storeys high and consists of 2 bays, with 20th-century leaded casement windows, including 2-light windows in the thatch and an irregular arrangement on the ground floor. A 20th-century door is located to the left of the right bay. To the right, there is a single-storey whitewashed brick extension with a hipped tiled roof, which has a 20th-century extension projecting to the front. There is also a later outshot at the rear.
