Description

Cottage Farmhouse is an early 18th-century L-plan house that has been altered and significantly extended to the west in the 19th century. The original 18th-century section is constructed of red and vitreous brick, while the 19th-century addition features red and white chequer brick. The building has old tile roofs and brick chimneys and stands two storeys tall.

The 18th-century part has five narrow bays with brick pilasters on the north side. The outer bays contain oval openings on the first floor, which are now blocked. The bays next to the centre feature 19th-century wooden casements, with paired windows on the first floor and a three-light window on the ground floor to the right. The central entrance is a boarded door with a cambered head, flanked by a small band of moulded brick and remnants of a pediment above.

To the right of the north front, there are two 19th-century bays with wooden casements, including a three-light window on the ground floor to the left and two-light windows elsewhere, along with a boarded door to the right. The south front, facing the road, has two 19th-century gables on the left, an 18th-century projection with a 19th-century gable on the right, and a lean-to in the angle. The ground floor features 19th-century casements and a five-panel door within a 19th-century surround in the second gable.
