Description
28 Main Street is a house that dates from the 16th to 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill, including some herringbone patterns. The left bay was refronted in the 18th century using chequer brick. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, with a central brick chimney. The house has one and a half storeys and consists of two bays. It includes 3-light casement windows, with 20th-century metal windows on the ground floor and leaded windows on the first floor beneath the thatch. There is a small barred staircase window in the center, aligned with the chimney. A panelled door is located to the right, with another entry in the left gable. To the right, there is a single-storey, one-bay extension made of brick with a thatched roof, featuring an early 19th-century canted bay window with barred sashes. There are later extensions at the rear. Inside, the house has stop-chamfered spine beams and an original staircase.
