Description

This is a house and shop, originally dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and later, including a 20th-century extension to the right. The left bay is timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill, while the rest of the house is of similar brick, featuring a plinth and band course. The roof is thatched, half-hipped to the left, and includes a large chimney stack made of thin brick between the right-hand bays, and a further external brick chimney to the left. The house is 1½ storeys high and has 3 bays, plus a lobby entry. The ground floor has a large canted bay window to the left, and two 3-light, barred wooden casement windows. Two further 3-light casement windows, one metal, are located on the first floor, set within the thatch. A half-glazed door is situated between the right-hand bays, sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch. To the right is a shop, constructed of whitewashed brick and plastic weatherboard, with a slate roof. This section is 1½ storeys high and has two bays, with a shop front featuring arched lights and a dormer window to the left with four barred wooden casements.
