Description
No. 71 on Main Street is a house built around 1830. It features stippled and colourwashed render with a smooth plinth and a plain band course. The roof is made of 20th-century pantiles, with deep boarded eaves and gables that project on cut brackets. There is a rendered chimney on the left side. The house has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The outer bays contain 4-pane sash windows with minimal architrave surrounds. The centre bay features a narrow sash window with a 4-centred arched light in a moulded frame on the first floor, along with a door that has Gothic panels, a plain rectangular fanlight, and a chamfered surround with moulded bases. Both the window and door originally had Tudor hoodmoulds. There is a 20th-century single light window in the attic on the right gable. To the left, there is a small flat-roofed single-storey extension. This house may have been built in association with the original Baptist Church from 1838.
