Description

This is a pair of attached cottages, known as Wellhead Cottage and Primrose Cottage, forming an L-shaped block. They date to the 17th century and were altered in the 18th century. The cottages are timber-framed, with parts of the front replaced with 18th-century brickwork, some of which is laid in a chequer pattern; Wellhead Cottage features a diaper brick pattern. The roofs are tiled and have a central chimney to each wing, with a more modern chimney on the south gable of Wellhead Cottage. Primrose Cottage has one gabled dormer window in its south roof slope.

The two-storey west-facing elevation overlooking the road has a projecting gable of Primrose Cottage on the left-hand side. It features two bays of three-light leaded casement windows and two doors. Wellhead Cottage has a 20th-century gabled open porch on its right-hand side. The right-hand gable of Wellhead Cottage shows timber framing above a tie beam. The north elevation has timber framing, two bays of two-light leaded casement windows, and a lower addition to the left with a lower attached wing. The rear elevation of Wellhead Cottage shows a first-floor band and diaper brickwork. The cottages are situated in a group with numbers 3, 4, and 5 Willow End.
