Description

This barn, located to the southwest of Number 46 Pathacres, dates from the 17th century or early 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a stone plinth, with 20th-century weatherboarding and a clay tiled roof that extends over an outshot on the south side. The barn has 20th-century garage doors and windows. Inside, it consists of four bays with heavy jowled posts, curved braces supporting the tiebeams, and curved struts leading to the lower purlins. There are queen posts and collars for the upper purlins, along with curved windbraces. The wall framing includes heavy sole plates. A later outshot has been added to the south side, and one of the posts features carved dates that record children's heights, the earliest being from 1762.
