Description
Cobwebs is a cottage that dates back to the 17th century, with extensions from the early 19th century and alterations made in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of witchert, which is colourwashed and rendered, featuring masonry scribing, and it has a rubblestone plinth. The cottage consists of two bays and is 1½ storeys high, topped with a half-hipped thatch roof.
An early 19th-century wing is set back from the main structure, consisting of two bays and two storeys, with old tile roofs. The main entrance is a central door, flanked by 2-light leaded casements. The central stack, which forms a lobby entry plan, has three tall moulded and enriched Tudor style flues with concaved octagonal caps, built around 1920 by the builder Webb of Haddenham. The early 19th-century wing also features leaded casements and a hipped roof, along with two gabled wings at the rear and two additional Tudor style brick flues from around 1920. The main house has a thatched outshot. Inside, there are inglenook fireplaces and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
