Description
Varneys is a house from the 17th century that has been altered. It is constructed of witchert, which is colourwashed and rendered, with the left bay made of rubblestone and also colourwashed. The roof is covered with old tiles. The house has three bays and two storeys, with the left bay recently raised to match the height of the others and includes a two-storey rear addition. There is a gabled porch with a board door situated between the right-hand bays. The adjacent bays feature three-light casements, while the left bay has a two-light casement and a door on the right side. The first floor has three-light casements from the 17th or 18th century, with a two-light casement above the door. A stack is located between the right-hand bays, positioned behind the door, and is of 17th-century brick with three diagonal flues, centre bands, and projecting caps. The right gable elevation displays an 18th-century brick gable above a band course and includes a two-light attic casement. The left gable has a modern two-light attic casement. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
