Description

Thornborough Mill is a water mill, dating to the 17th century with alterations and additions in the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a tiled roof. The building is two storeys and has an attic. It has five bays, including a wheel arch facing north, now blocked and built with cambered brick. Irregular barred casements are set within timber lintels. The west front has entrances to both the ground and first floors in the second bay from the right. Two gabled dormers are visible at the rear. A single-storey stable extension, built in the 18th or 19th century, adjoins the south side, featuring a slate roof and a flat stone arch over its entrance. Much of the late 18th and 19th-century mill machinery remains intact, including bins, shoots, millstones, and a walkway to the loft, although the water wheel is absent.
