Description
Sycamore Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1600. It has a timber frame with brick infill, mostly in a herringbone pattern, and a rubble stone plinth. The roof is thatched, featuring a central brick chimney, with part of it made from 17th-century brick below the ridge. The house is two storeys high, with two bays and a lobby entry.
The left bay has late 18th-century four-pane sash windows set in moulded architrave frames, while the right bay contains three-light leaded casements. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a wooden hood supported by cut brackets, along with single leaded lights to the right and above on the first floor. The left gable has been rebuilt, rendered, and whitewashed. At the rear, there is a similar lean-to with a tiled roof.
To the right, there is a mid-19th-century extension made of red brick, which has offset eaves and a tiled roof. This extension is two storeys and an attic high, with one bay of four-pane sash windows, the ground floor window having a cambered head. There is also a 19th-century six-panelled door to the right, complete with a wooden doorcase and hood.
