Description

The Church of St. Paul is a church built in 1868, located on Chinnor Road in Bledlow Ridge. It is constructed of flint with stone dressings and has slate roofs. The building features a nave, a south porch, a chancel, and a north vestry, with offset buttresses. The nave includes a three-light traceried window on the west side and five bays of lancets on both the north and south sides. The gabled south porch, located at the second bay, has a double-chamfered arch with carved head label stops. At the west end of the nave, there is a bell-turret adorned with cusped wooden arches and a spirelet. The chancel contains two bays of cusped lancets and a three-light traceried window on the east side, with both the east and west windows featuring hoodmoulds with carved head stops. Additionally, there is another cusped lancet in the east wall of the vestry. The interior is whitewashed, showcasing a simply moulded chancel arch supported by triple shaft corbels. The nave has arch-braced roof trusses, while the chancel features scissor trusses. The east window contains late 19th-century glass, and the west window was designed by John Piper and made by Patrick Reyntiens in 1968.
