Description
Chawley Green Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century, featuring two central bays with later flanking bays. It has a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and a whitewashed flint plinth, while the outer bays are constructed of whitewashed flint and brick. The building has old tile roofs, with the roof of the left bay being slightly lower. There are brick chimneys at the gables and in the center. The house is 1½ storeys high and consists of four bays.
The windows are 20th-century leaded casements, with the center bays having 3-light windows; the ground floor windows have board hoods, and those above are set in gabled semi-dormers. The right bay features matching 2-light windows, while the left bay has a canted bay window. The center section is slightly angled and includes an old board and studded door, a 19th to 20th-century gabled timber porch, and a fire insurance plaque inscribed "West of England, Exeter." There is a 20th-century half-glazed and leaded door to the left of the right bay.
At the rear, there are casements with older mullions on the first floor, a 4-light window flanking a 3-light window, and a 20th-century whitewashed brick lean-to on the left. The original right bay features substantial stop-chamfered joists.
