Description

Nos. 61-64 are four cottages located in Hambleden Village, dating from the 16th to early 17th century, with additional bays added in the early to mid-18th century. The right wing features timber framing with rendered infill, while the front bay has an angle brace. The front is constructed of red and vitreous brick with coved plaster eaves, and the left gable and rear are made of flint and brick. The cottages have old tile roofs and 19th-century brick chimneys, forming an L-plan layout.

The building stands two storeys high, with the later bays also including an attic storey. The front elevation is irregular, featuring a gabled bay to the right. The ground floor has six cross windows with 19th-century wooden casements, many of which were originally doorways, including one in a blocked semi-circular arch to the right of centre. The first floor has two similar windows, two with altered glazing, one narrow sash, and other blocked openings. There are three gabled dormers with paired wooden casements.

The ground floor includes three 20th-century board doors with segmental heads, two of which have 19th-century stop-chamfered frames. The right gable displays a series of projecting brick ledges. The right side features a slightly jettied upper storey with two bays. The ground floor has irregular wooden casements, including a two-light wooden casement in an old frame and an old board door; the upper storey has two old paired leaded casements and one paired wooden casement.
