Description

Nos. 5-6 Acland Terrace is a semi-detached house built around 1850. It features coursed rubble stone with a plinth and a rendered first floor band course. The roof is tiled, with end rafters exposed at the gables. A central rectangular chimney stack has a stone base and white brick above. The building is two storeys high with four symmetrical bays, where the outer bays are lower and set back. It has stone mullion windows, with the first-floor windows featuring segmental relieving arches and gables above. The central bays have three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows above, while the outer bays have single lights and half-glazed doors with lean-to hoods supported by stone corbels at the angle with the centre bays. This house was built for Sir Henry Acland as improved housing for the Ewelme estate.
