Description
Nortons Farmhouse is a 17th-century timber-framed house that has undergone alterations. The building features two bays that have been encased in brick during the 18th century and is refronted with colour-washed masonry scribed render on the south front. It consists of two bays and a cross wing to the right, topped with old tile roofs. The windows include barred sash types and some casements. The house stands two storeys plus an attic, with a 17th-century stack in the cross wing. At the rear, there are two 18th-century gabled wings made of flint and brick, along with a lean-to from the south gable of the cross wing. A porch is located on the south side, and there is a weathered 18th-century end stack on the left. Inside, the cross wing's ground floor features a chamfered and stopped spine beam supported by a decorated bracket, with exposed timber framing. An early 18th-century closed string staircase with splat balusters leads from the first floor to the attic, while a 19th-century flight descends to the ground floor.
