Description

The Old Homestead is a house that was originally a pair of houses, dating from the 17th century. The left half has been refronted and features an ornate plaque over the door dated 1726. No. 10, on the right, is timber framed with wavy braces and has whitewashed infill, with plaster on the ground floor and brick above. It has a slate roof at the front and a tiled roof at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The left-hand bay has a canted bay window with sash windows and a cornice top on the ground floor, while the remaining windows are three-light leaded casements. There is a six-panelled ledged door to the left.

No. 12 is constructed of whitewashed brick and features a band course and moulded brick eaves. It has an old tile roof, a brick coped gable, and a 19th-century brick chimney on the left, along with an 18th-century brick chimney stack on the right. This part also has two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The irregular ground floor includes a single leaded casement and a three-light leaded casement on the left, and three sash windows on the right, all of which are large with segmental heads. The first floor has two three-light leaded casements, and the attic features two gabled dormers with barred wooden windows, one of which has a horizontal sliding sash. There is a ledged board door to the right of centre.
